okay its been almost a year and i just now noticed that the first comment on my old paper animation is from someone who draws
porn lmfao

this isn't funny. it's just kinda nothing. no interesting conflict, the dialogue is bare bones and repetitive. not to mention the art isn't even bad in a funny way, it's just not very good. the audio is hard to understand and everything is badly timed, the conversation if you can call it that, doesn't flow at all. this looks, sounds and feels like it was made in 20 minutes with no thought at all.

SomebodysHero responds:

bingo

pretty cool! I like it a lot! but definitely could be improved. I like the attempt at analogue horror, but idk, the art feels a lil too clean to me. Analogue horror tends to have a more lofi look to it. Your usual high res high fps (mostly)naturally moving animation doesn't really lend itself to that vibe. I also find the timing of things to be a little too natural/structured. It lacks the chaotic timing that makes analogue horror really off kilter and scary. Audio quality was a lil too good too. Idk, feels like you were caught in a weird crossroads between wanting something more in line with your usual animation style and your blue channel stuff, and then ended up skimping on that crunchy grungy spooky vagueness that is blue channel. I would love to see you try something like this again though!! I know you can do it, and I love your work <3

have a great day!! :)))))

Gooseworx responds:

That's fair.
Although I will say I wasn't really trying to go for that much of an analog horror angle. I mostly just wanted it to be weird and funny. Adding the grain and compression was actually a pretty last-minute decision to differentiate the show from the "real world."
But I appreciate the critique nonetheless.

there's a lot of dead air here. way too many long pauses and reliance on audio gags/memes. the voice acting is kinda amateurish and the art doesn't really convey how the characters feel. pretty lazy since it just feels like a bunch of pngs plastered together. idk if you could even call this animation, it's basically just a powerpoint slide show

SullyboyDraws responds:

Very legitimate criticism. It's kinds hard to describe but the idea of the series is to have the quality gradually increase from something that looks like it was directed by a 9-year old (The first episode) to eventually being fully animated and such. The 2nd episode is almost done, and is much much shorter than this one, but is much better quality, so I hope you'll stick around to give us a second chance!

Thank you so much for the constructive criticism btw, helps us improve our shit :)

this ain't youtube

Mrg19998 responds:

sorry I mean deleted

YOOOOOO THIS ANIMATION FEELS SO WEIGHTY, EVERY HIT FEELS HEAVY AND IMPACTFUL I LOVE IT!

AnimatedZorox responds:

YOOO THANKS BRUV! Tried my best on giving it energy :D

looks cool! I'm only blamming this because idk why it's in the movies section. I'd recommend putting this in the art portal instead as a gif (you could convert using gifmaker.me), or adding music to it and reposting!

scyfoa responds:

oh! Sorry!

idk why you didn't put this in the audio portal or something, the movie section is for MOVIES, not visualizers and advertisements (at least not ones as static as this)

madsomewhatman responds:

I was going to put it in the audio portal but I ran out of time last night, anyways this was just an experiment to see what got more views, but thanks for letting me know anyways.

This was cool I guess, but this is just barely animated traced panels of the comic. You even stretch out a certain part just because you didn't know how to fill out the rest of the frame. Not very good.

DillonTharp responds:

Ok 👍

The best entry, NO CAP. It not only made me laugh, but it left me feeling something, and that's more than I can say for any other entry. Everyone here did an amazing job... Ngl, almost made me cry.

retroarcademonkey responds:

This is no joke my favourite review I have read so far on this, NO CAP... What I strive for for literally ANYTHING I work on is to make someone feel emotional in some capacity. I feel so incredibly humbled by your words. Even though I don't really do this voice acting thing as much these days, it definitely gives me a lot of weight behind what I used to do.

Porcelain really made this shit come to life, and I'm still so glad that I could get to be apart of this in any way at all. Thanks, Kolani for the incredibly kind words.

BoyPorcelain responds:

Wow okay, that's... crazy to hear, I did my best to have a condensed story between these two that wasn't just going to be goofy joke after joke, the fact that it resonated with you like that and have my stupid ass quickly rushed script is something I can only dream I'll be able to do.
Thank you so much for the kind words and taking the time to leave a comment, at this point winning is beyond what I want, I'm just so grateful of the response this has gotten and the feedback from everyone. You've made all the hard work very worth it.

:D
